The drag coefficient calculator is a bonus feature of the PowerCalc Cyclists Power Calculator
|
The drag coefficient calculator can be used to estimate a cyclists coefficient of drag. First you need to determine the speed at which the bicycle freewheels down a hill of known gradient in equilibrium. Frontal area can be measured from a photograph. Also you need to know the weight of the bicycle and rider combined. The calculator also allows you to adjust for head winds, tail winds, and (via PowerCalc's main window), density of air and coefficient of rolling resistance. |
