Hmmmm I'm sure the suit representing South Gloucestershire Council at the public inquiry said "cyclists will not be affected by the new ring road". So here are some pictures showing exactly what was meant! There was some evidence to suggest that the council representative might have been ecenomical with the truth (his lips were moving): I for one would like to express my gratitude to the council because instead of just a few miserly miles of cycle path, running through idyllic quiet countryside, there is going to be loads of new path, alongside the wonderful new ring road, where the air will be enriched with CO, NOX, and other assorted exhaust gasses.
The new ring road is modelled on that other masterpiece of modern civil engineering, known as the M25. A single storey, multi lane, free car park that encircle's the city of London. Anyone else who would like to express gratitude (or whatever) to South Gloucestershire Council is advised that the correct e-mail address is: mailbox@southglos.gov.uk

I can't begin to explain exactly how impressed I am - Words simply fail me! Hopefully the above photographs of the council's handiwork, will say it all for me....And since when has Bristol been part of Gloucestershire anyhow?
