This is a nice little converter for vulgar fractions to decimal fractions. If you are attempting to measure your bicycles chainstay length etc with a long engineers rule then you won't need it. Engineers rulers are graduated in convenient decimal fractions of an inch anyhow. The ruler scale in the top right corner is graduated like most home use tape measures. I.e. the smallest graduation is 1/32", then 1/6ths, then 1/8ths, then quarters.
If you don't know what 21/32" is as a decimal, you can work it out easily by simply deviding 21 (the numerator) by 32 (the denominator) on any pocket calculator. Alternatively just click on the ruler and Fractions.exe gives you the vulgar fraction (21/32"), the decimal equivalent (0.65625") and the metric equavelent in millimetres (16.66875). The smallest graduation on the ruler is 1/64th. 64ths are the gaps between the black lines. If you want to know the decimal equivalent of a fraction not available on the ruler just enter the numbers directly in the numerator and denominator boxes.
The program also calculates inches from millimeters and millimeters from inches.
