The Machinehead Web Browser isn't intended to be an industrial grade browser suitable for surfing the net outwards facing. Try Mozilla, Netscape, Opera etc. if you are looking for one of these.
This is the point where I was going to say that it isn't even as good as Internet Explorer, buy hey, it IS Internet Explorer! The appearance is rather different (click here for a screen shot) because it is running in a wrapper program that gives me certain convenient advantages over my 'proper browsers' when surfing the local copy of my site in off line mode for maintenance purposes:
Because this browser is a fully integrated part of web masters weaponry, it knows about the map of my local site so when I click on an absolute URL to my domain it can figure out the path to the appropriate local version of the page and retrieve this instead of going on line and getting the version on the server.
Also clicking on the button with the gear cogs conveniently synchronises the WMW file browser so that the current page is highlighted ready for use with WMW's other functionality.
The other justification for the existence of this bastardised version of Explorer is the row of icons in the status bar. Integration with WMW means it knows about my other web browsers and web page editors so all I need to do is click on the appropriate icon to open the current page in any of my other 3rd party applications.
