Site Map Creator

Web masters weaponry can create a range of different site map page styles from the list of unique links generated by the link tester. Click the 'create site map' button to auto generate a site map web page similar to this one or this, or a minimalist version like this, this or this. WMW extracts the title and meta descriptions (optional) from each page in the list and creates the html in the windows clipboard (and/or writes it directly as a named file). Any page containing a redirection tag in the header will be automatically excluded (optional) from the page even though it appears in the list. To force a page to be excluded from your site map page without turning it into a redirector use the custom meta tag: <meta name="MachineheadWMWDontCompileInIndex" content="TRUE"> within the header of the page. The auto site map creator currently has five tabs full of options to allow easy customisation of your sitemap page. Other optional features include: Control of background and text colours, depth of indentation, optional internal page index and insertion of bits of HTML/Javascript/text stored as separate files into strategic parts of the page to avoid the need for manual editing. Currently these places are: 1. Just before the </head> tag (A good place to insert javascript functions. 2. Just above the main title (i.e. where my logo goes) 3. Just below the main title (not demonstrated) and 4. At the very bottom of the page (also not demonstrated).

All of the links within the site map page are hard wired (absolute URL's) so you can save the page anywhere in your sites directory structure and it will work when uploaded. If you want the index page to also be navigable off line you will need to use WMW's soft wiring option to adjust the links. This will also make the page a bit smaller but it will now only work correctly from a single location in your sites directory structure. Alternatively the WMW Browser can be used to navigate absolute URL's pointing to the home domain locally without the need for conversion.

The optional page index and group titles are created from the sites directory structure. Very nice if your site already has a nice tidy directory structure. If not the WMW page mover can take the pain out of fixing all the links that get broken as a result of moving a page to a new location in your sites directory structure.
